It has been a few years since I have been back to Vegas. Any visit is not complete until I visit the Mecca of Star Trek geekdom, Star Trek: The Experience.
Last time I was there, I was just barely a Star Trek fan. I had always liked the show, but I realized (while reading the time-line in the museum) that there was a ton of mythology that I was completely unaware of. I then set out on a mission to watch every episode of Star Trek ever made. Since that promise I have seen every episode of the old series, every episode of Enterprise, every episode of NextGen, every episode of DeepSpaceNine, and the first three seasons of Voyager. It was great to read the time-line this visit and know every episode they were talking about (except for the later seasons of Voyager).
They also added a new ride about the Borg. I expected it to be better than it was. Honestly, the Klingon Encounter ride is still the best. I went with a guy from work, Paul, and I think he summed it up great. The Borg ride has Voyager in it, the Klingon ride has Enterprise in it. Riker and the Enterprise saving the day is much cooler than Janeway and Voyager... sorry... but it just is.
We had dinner at Quarks... I had Cardassian pockets with Yammac sauce, washed it down with a Cardassian Ale followed by a Vulcan Ale... my geek head exploded. If I was to go to Vegas (by myself) I would stay at the Hilton and hang out there all day. Yes... pathetic... I know... what do you want from me?
