This weekend was filled with lots of Lucy and lots of work on the new house. A special thanks to Grandma and Grandpa McNulty for letting us essentially camp at there house all weekend... and we will be back there all next week as well!
On the "to-do" list was destroying the kitchen and getting everything ready for the kitchen installers who will be coming in July 5th and 6th. I was able to tackle the hanging cabinets myself. Mo's Dad helped me with the appliances and the bottom cabinets. He also helped me cut and patch drywall to fill in any holes left by the demolition. The entire job was complicated by the fact that I wanted to save the old cabinets and eventually hang them in the garage... so it wasn't like I was in there swinging a sledge hammer... I was a delicate as possible and only lost one cabinet in the process.
Tuesday I plan on going back to sand all the patch work and give it a quick white wash so the installers have a good base on which to sketch out the install plan. Since we are replacing most of the appliances (Sears was having a sale on Kenmore) those won't be delivered until 7/14... so they are going to have to just leave some space... that is the only thing that really makes me nervous.
Things are coming together though... there are times when I feel like the house is never going to get done... and then there are flashes where I can see it all coming together and I get excited.
Lucy as been a real joy though. She is starting to wake up... spend more time looking you in the eye... sticking our her tongue... smiling when she has gas... the usual baby stuff. We will try and keep the pictures coming! Grandma and Grandpa McNulty got a new camera too so they are stepping it up as well. Mo's mom used out camera to snap a pretty rad photo of Hannah playing outside.
A note about Home Depot: That place is dangerous man... once you start doing home improvement and you start to learn what stuff is and why it is important... you immediately find new projects you want to start. I have also started watching a lot of the DIY Network. They make you feel like you can do anything... combine Home Depot with DIY Network and that is pure trouble... I found myself having air condition lust today... WHAT is THAT about? Mmmmm Trane...
